Main editorial office
Every two months, you will alternate between the academy and your regular editorial office. This gives you the chance to put what you’ve learned directly into practice under real editorial conditions. Right from the start, you will work closely with your future colleagues and ideally already write your first stories.
Masterpiece
Practical relevance is the most important part of our concept. That’s why, together with your team colleagues, you’ll develop a cross-media project that is equally characterized by journalistic relevance and digital innovation – and thus get to know a completely convergent production. We call it “Masterpiece” to make the claim clear. The project work marks the end of the first ten months of your training.
Professionalization
You will spend most of the second year of training in your chosen main editorial office, where you can apply everything you have learned, develop routine and further deepen your knowledge. You become part of the editorial team and produce your own stories. In between, you will attend further seminars and coaching sessions at the academy on a weekly basis.
Final trip
Broadening horizons and constant inspiration are part of everyday life at the Axel Springer Academy – and the best comes at the end: We enable each of our teams to go on an impressive study trip to Israel. There you will meet contemporary witnesses, get to know exciting interlocutors and thus form your own, direct picture of the politics, culture, religion and economy of this fascinating country. On the last day of this unforgettable trip, you will receive your editor’s certificate in a festive ceremony.
